I cringed writing this post because on one hand I want to roll my eyes at all the ridiculous hype around the situation, but on the other, it’s also nice to be prepared. If you have to be stuck inside, it’s good if you feel well-stocked. It could make the difference between feeling claustrophobic and cozy! If you’re like me and consider yourself a non-alarmist who likes to feel prepared AND cozy, have a look at this list I made for myself with that mentality. Here’s what we got on our trip ahead of the two week quarantine, or lockdown, as they’re calling it in some places: Kitchen: coffee/tea pasta pasta sauce almond/oat milk (non-refrigerated) dried mango oats eggs plain cashews/raw nuts canned tuna/salmon baby food peanut butter grilled sesame oil (adds great flavor!) olive oil rice cakes brown rice canned beans chocolate jam protein powder parmesan cheese or other hard cheeses (they keep about a month in the fridge) citrus fruits (they have a longer shelf life than thin skinned fruit) potatoes carrots bell peppers quinoa popcorn (if you have a microwave) frozen bread (like ezekiel which is super high in fiber and nutrients) preferred meats/seafood which can easily be frozen and stored for a while yogurt (also keeps a while in the fridge) chicken/veggie stock all purpose flour (if you’re in the mood to bake something special/fun) butter (if you’re in the mood to bake something special/fun) protein bars jerky Bathroom:body washtoilet paper Home:hand soapwhite vinegar (great to use as a natural cleaner in a pinch)dish soappaper towelstissuesrubbing alcoholtrash bags Medicine cabinet:probioticsthroat lozengestylenol adult/babycold medicine like Nyquil/Dayquil This is enough for at least a couple weeks, save for a few items that’ll need to be replenished sooner like some baby food and fresh produce. There’s no need to go crazy and hoard a bunch of medicine, but it can’t hurt to have a little on hand in case you catch a cold or regular flu. Over to you! Did you shop for anything special I didn’t include? Feel free to add it to the comments below– let’s help each other out! 🙂
